I-pod touch

My ipod touch does so much for me. I listen to it while I take long runs and it stores all of the music i put onto it. I have an 8gb one so it allows over 2,000 songs! I have many applications that i use as well, my favorite is called around you, it somehow knows exactly where i am located and shows what kind of restaurants, hotels, movie theaters, and fast food chains are around you. I always find out which ones are around a certain location so i am prepared to know where i can go out to eat or lodge at. I recommned this application to anyone using the ipod touch or the iphone. It is also a free app which just adds to how great i think it is.

SRUAHPERD Convention- "MinI-Convention"

The spring semester is always a very hectic and busy time for both students and professors at every university and in every major. However, at Slippery Rock University it is an especially chaotic time for Health and Physical Education majors. This is partially because of the SRUAHPERD Convention which is also known as "Mini-Convention." This year Mini-Convention will be Wednesday, April 21st from 8am-3pm. The SRUAHPERD Convention is the only convention in Pennsylvania that is ran and sponsored by students rather than professionals. Also, this year is the 40th anniversary of the SRUAHPERD Convention and the theme for the convention this year is, "Stepping Into the Future." In order for the SRUAHPERD Convention to run smoothy every year many student volunteers are needed. Most of the planning is done by the PETE Club Executive Board, however, the committee leaders and committee members are also a big part of the planning process also. The SRUAHPERD Convention registration fee is only ten dollars for a professional and five dollars for a student. To register online or to learn more about Mini-Convention you can go online to: http://www.sru.edu/pages/15496.asp

Scheduling

OK. I know most of you are probably tired of talking about scheduling, but unfortunately it's something that most of us are going to have to deal with for at least another year. I think we all have the same complaints: I'm not in the college of Ed so I can't take classes that I need now or more than one class that I need is schduled at the same time and that class is only offered once. Well we have all had these problems. I think SRU needs to realize that Health and Physical Education is a big major here and whether they would like to or not they need to add more classes! I don't think we necessarily need more professors but something must be done. Maybe instead of a computer scheduling the times and days of classes someone can do it by hand. Then they could make sure that courses that are required for sophmore year aren't all during the same time period! I know that during scheduling time I am stressed out like none other! Maybe if we all complain enough someone will do something about it, or maybe we will just have to deal with this chaos twice year. But on a positive note... I did get all my classes for the Fall semester! :)

Outdoor Pursuits Camping Trip

This weekend my Outdoor Pursuits class was required to go on a backpacking/camping trip on the Dennison trails, in a national forest up near Franklin, PA. It was about a half an hour from SRU. I was personally really excited about the trip because I wanted to get to know more of my class and I love camping! However, I had never backpacked so I was also nervous about the new experience. I was pleasantly surprised at how much fun we all had together! I think that this trip does teach you something about yourself and possibly about other people. I think it's great that it is a requirement of the class. The experience is something that you can always carry with you and it may even force you out of your comfort zone, which can only help you grow. Take Outdoor Pursuits! Even if you aren't a physical education major.
